Perspective Taking Through A VR Filmmaker | Carlos Austin

I still remember the first day VR filmmaker Carlos Austin guided me in this mesmerizing virtual world as our avatars swung together with dolphins in deep ocean waters~

Until this day, I can still “hear” the singing sounds, “touch” the smooth belly of a playful dolphin, and “see” the deep blue waters surrounding us.

Carlos invested decades in the space of wedding photography, something my dad also did for a while before he pivoted into a different path.

Back then, when I followed my dad around across all kinds of weddings, I would find myself totally submerged in the pure joy of witnessing two people finding each other with deep love and a healthy dose of anxiety after navigating the unpredictable waters called life.

That was a moment of pure magic.

As for Carlos, eight years ago, an interesting experience pivoted him into making VR films.

In this MAGICademy conversation, we will explore what it takes to be a filmmaker in the virtual world, and how we can learn a thing or two in our day-to-day collaborative life on perspective-taking, just like a filmmaker.

Deep Understanding through Embodied Stories| Sebastiaan Smink

Do you know what it would feel like if you were a big whale hearing noises from big freighters deep in the ocean?

Can you imagine yourself “hearing” the engine rumbling, horn blasting, and propelling churning?

Can you “see” the bright lights constantly and unpredictably interrupt your soothing darkness?

How does it feel to be surrounded by the sounds of the deep ocean—until industrial noise crashes over you like a wave?

This is a moment of ocean sound pollution.

I am not even aware that was a thing before this conversation.

Through such an experience, you're not just learning about ocean noise pollution. You're feeling it in your body, your emotions, your spirit, as if you were a kid again.

This is the difference between awareness and presence, between consuming information and embodying understanding.

If you are curious, dive into our conversation with @Sabastiaan Smink about creating moments to anchor us in the present, even in our hyper-distractive age.

Three Pillars of Wise Leadership | Dr. Gregory Stebbins

What if leadership wasn’t about the burden to be the smartest in the room with all the tactics and strategies, or having all the answers?

What if leadership is simply a gentle start from the heart?

Starting from the heart is to cultivate self-wisdom through presence and deep self-reflection, nurturing relationships through acceptance and clarity, and designing conscious structures to value collective psychological safety and childlike wonder.

When these come together, they form what @Dr. Greg calls the wisdom of the heart.

In this @MAGICademy conversation, we explore a conscious model of heart-centered leadership, rooted in compassion, empathy, and authentic connection, creating work spaces that are human, humane, and future-ready.

It’s not about being perfect—it’s about breathing, learning from experience, and choosing connection over fear.

Because at the end of the day, leadership is less about power and more about connection.

✨ Breathe. Stay present. Lead with heart.

Abundance through Immersive Technologies | Alvin Wang Graylin

Build an Abundantly Playful Society with AI/XR | Alvin Wang Graylin

What if abundance wasn't just possible—but inevitable?

In this MAGICademy conversation with VR/AI pioneer Alvin Wang Graylin sees AI productivity exploding so dramatically that we'll transition from fighting over resources to having more than we know what to do with. Think "universal high income" where everyone lives comfortably while working maybe one day a week.

In this post-scarcity reality, war becomes pointless (why fight for oil when energy is free?), stress vanishes (why worry about rent when housing is abundant?), and human potential explodes as we finally pursue our true gifts instead of survival jobs.

"We won't work because we need income," Graylin explains. "We'll work because we want to contribute." The technology to create this abundance exists today—the question is whether we'll distribute it or hoard it.

Sometimes You Have to Sit on a Pineapple | Richard Gold

🍍 "That's me sitting on a pineapple."

A senior developer said this during a team workshop, holding up a LEGO model of a minifigure stuck on a spiky plant.

The room went silent. Then something incredible happened.

What started as one person's frustration became their team's secret weapon. "Sometimes you have to sit on a pineapple" transformed from a complaint into their rallying cry.

Sprint planning meetings changed forever. The project manager would walk in with an "invisible piece of fruit" and ask, "Who wants the pineapple?" Suddenly, everyone's hand shot up.

The impossible tasks that used to cause resentment? They became badges of honor.

This is what happens when teams create psychological safety through play. Research shows LEGO Serious Play workshops create lasting improvements in team cohesion that traditional team building can't match.

The most honest, grown-up conversations happen when we give ourselves permission to play.

Sometimes the breakthrough your team needs is hiding behind a LEGO brick.

What's your team's "pineapple"? 👇

How Magic Teaches Us About Trust and Innovation | Mike Hruska

Why do you instantly trust your favorite actor... even though they've been lying to you for years?

Here's the mind-bending truth: We don't just tolerate deception—we PAY for it. Movies, music, magic shows... we crave "beautiful lies" that expand our sense of what's possible.

The kicker? The same psychology that makes magic work can revolutionize how you lead change and build trust.

🔮 Magic Makers understand:

  • There's a difference between "impossible" and "not possible yet."

  • Problems should be articulated, not rushed to solutions

  • Trust can be built instantly when you "live in the shadow of the future."

  • Reality is anchored in 7 metaphors, and you can change them

The magic formula: Set the stage → Suspend disbelief → Create shared journeys → Surprise that leads to DELIGHT

Most change management fails at that last step. Instead of delight, people get anxiety.

The best innovators aren't just problem-solvers—they're magic makers who help people see around the corner.

What's your magic? 🪄
