Research Methods

A Systemic Approach

We work cosmo-locally—rooting our research in specific local communities while sharing those insights with a global network. MAGICommons operates as an Ecosystem Lab, treating individual health and societal health as one interconnected living system.

Our North Star is Creative Vitality—a state of being fully alive and engaged. We study this through a "whole-human" lens (biopsychosocial-spiritual-systemic) across eight key areas of life: Arts, Health, Education, Governance, Economics, Agriculture, Architecture, and Technology. We focus specifically on the "edges" where these fields meet. By holding a spacious container (Ma), we study the bridge-building dynamics of our Signal Bearers to see how regenerative solutions emerge from the gaps between traditional silos.

Literature Review as Synthesis

To stay grounded, we constantly bridge lived experience with academic data. We look at the internal science of vitality alongside the external realities of how our world is built (like our laws and our economy). This ongoing synthesis ensures our work is both deeply intuitive and scientifically rigorous.

Podcast as Living Inquiry

We use open dialogue to observe how human vitality naturally unfolds. We learn from Signal Bearers—pioneers who embody high creative capacity—to identify what helps them thrive. We study how these individuals act as bridge-builders, connecting different fields to create evolving experiences and solutions.

We also practice relational reciprocity, sharing our written summaries back with our guests to ensure we’ve captured their "Signal" accurately. To keep our research moving, we eventually share these stories with the world, always remaining open to updates as our guests and their work continue to grow.

Vitality Activation Inquiries

Our research is anchored by three evolving questions:

  • Source & The Friction: What specific conditions help deep creative vitality emerge, and what systemic forces tend to block it?

  • Practice: What habits and relationships allow people and organizations to keep this vitality alive and renewable?

  • Ecosystem: What kind of societal frameworks—when tested at the local level—best protect and expand this vitality for everyone globally?
